Story Story Media Ltd, the organizer of “Abuja International Photo Exhibition” calls for entries from photographers for the September 2017 edition of the festival.   Abuja International Photo Exhibition is the single largest gathering of photographers in Africa for the purpose of photography for social change. This year’s exhibition is titled: “A thousand words: The unheard voices of everyday people.” Focus of Exhibition: Interested photographers should note that their works must communicate the following issues: 1.       Need for quality education 2.       Effects of poverty 3.       Girl Child Education 4.       Climate Change 5.       The need for availability of clean water and sanitation. Similarly, there is an opportunity for works on Landscape photography, street photography and portraits. Photographer Fati Abubakar in a collaboration with Borno State Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture and support of North East Regional Initiative present The Photo Community, a photographer's workshop in Maiduguri for young people who have shown interest in photography.                       The 10-day intensive course will take place in Maiduguri with carefully selected participants to help create narratives of what young people of Maiduguri want their hometown to be represented as. Interested media professionals, photographers, and writers wishing to participate should send email to fatigangaran86@gmail.com Organisers would also like to be supported with donations of DSLRs, which would be tremendously helpful to the workshop participants. The Photo Community will hope to continue with mentorship, talks and more workshops.

He remembers it this way – shoving his hands as far as possible and watching helplessly as they fail to find purchase. It was sudden and swift; a solemn acquiescence. And it was the suddenness that provoked him into panic, which provoked reactions – impulsive and unthinking – that led him here. But presently, with faculties yoked by fear, and a shifting focus, his reaction is least of his troubles. He cannot unravel the past minutes. Did she trip? Tipple over? Clarity eludes him. And being trapped in a gridlock doesn't help. He sighs. News | Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria Hosts A Webtoon

The Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria will tomorrow, Wednesday, 23 August 2017, host a Korean webtoon between the hours of 4pm – 7pm at the Centre in Abuja. Webtoon is a term used to describe the South Korean webcomics. They are animated cartoons or series of comic strips published online. The Centre describes Korean webtoons as a national, cultural and economic phenomenon with one of the reasons driving it being the well-developed Korean IT industry that has given rise to a variety of platforms that facilitate the creation, consumption and distribution of this digital content. At the webtoon event tomorrow, there will be pictures of the drawings with blanked out dialogues and people get to fill in the blanks by writing what they think the characters are saying. At the end, the most creative ones will win prizes. Admission is free and the event is kid friendly.
