Samira Haruna Sanusi, our May TAMF Literary Birthday Intercourse guest’s birthday was on Saturday, May 6, 2017. She is the author of the book, S is for Survivor and Founder of the Samira Sanusi Sickle Cell Foundation. We had to break our tradition of publishing the interview same day as our guest’s birthday because her day was too full to permit a single stretch of interview. In addition to marking her birthday with family and friends, Samira Sanusi was also hosting a Fundraiser for her Sickle Cell Foundation on the same day. We started the interview in the morning of May 6, but her very busy day ensured that we could only conclude the interview three days later. I would like to share my thoughts about nurturing writers with the teenage writers here, but also with the adults here who by choice, by inclination, by official responsibility, are custodians of the teenagers. Custodians of the teenagers by way of offering guides and counsels, by way of programmatically nurturing the young minds towards achieving their dreams, by way of giving formal teaching in schools and other places of learning, by way of providing the incentives, the facilities, and the conducive environment for the imparting and acquisition of knowledge, formal and informal. Three Female Writers Arrive Iseyin For Ebedi Residency.

Three female writers from Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria have arrived Iseyin, Oyo State, Nigeria for the April-May 2017 session of the Ebedi International Writers Residency. They are; Gloria Mwaniga (Kenya) Cecilia Sefa Amoafowaa (Ghana) and Nana Aisha Abdulqadir (Nigeria). Gloria who is a graduate of the University of Nairobi is a freelance writer with the Nairobi based Nation Newspaper and the East African Newspaper. She is the author of two children’s books with Moran Publishers (2013 and 2014) as well as the author of a soon to be published Paper titled Reconstruction of Womanhood in 21st Century Narratives for FEMRITE. Gloria also has Poetry publications in two anthologies ‘Fresh Paint’ by Goethe Institut and Amka Space for Budding Writers -2010 and 2015.
