Abubakar Abdul Kuta is the first producer of contemporary indigenous film in Gbagyi Language. Having produced quite a number of issue-based films in his native language, Kuta’s biggest dream is to win the OSCAR award, the world biggest entertainment award. In this interview with Abubakar Akote for The Arts-Muse Fair Blog, he speaks on various issues including allegations of sex-for-role in the Film Industry in Niger State. Enjoy. TAMF: How true is the claim that you are the first Gbagyi film actor? Kuta: I am not the first Gbagyi film actor, but, I am the first producer of contemporary Gbagyi films in Nigeria. I produced the first contemporary Gbagyi film in Nigeria. TAMF: What do you mean by contemporary films? Kuta: You know we have religious films. We don’t call those ones contemporary. So, what I mean by contemporary is that, films that cut across all aspects of the society – diverse, either as a Muslim or Christian or the Nkwa and the Mataye and the rest
